Logistec will be working with Lamêlée Iron Ore Ltd. to develop a cargo handling solution for its 15 km2 mining project, located at the south end of the Labrador Trough near the Newfoundland-Québec border. The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding for a terminal and stevedoring services package, which also includes the FlexiPort docking solution.

Logistec’s made-to-measure solution will allow Lamêlée Iron Ore Ltd. to start shipping its products from Port-Cartier (QC), with the first shipments expected in or around the last quarter of 2017. Logistec has worked on similar projects with Baffinland Iron Mines, Consolidated Thomson, and most recently Canadian Royalties, which began shipments of copper and nickel concentrate from Deception Bay in Nunavik in March 2014.

“This new agreement with strategic partners which are well implanted locally will allow us to determine the most efficient strategies for port and stevedoring operations. Moreover, it will allow us to ensure that most of our employees for such operations in Port-Cartier are from the local workforce,” said Mr. Hubert Vallée, President and CEO of Lamêlée Iron Ore Ltd.
