Beneath the Florida sunshine, Logistec’s team in Port Manatee handles reefer shipments of fresh produce destined for supermarkets throughout the United States. The company’s operations recently received Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) certification from PrimusGFS.
“Our state-of-the-art inventory systems and experience managing large volumes of perishable fruit have helped us obtain this important certification from PrimusGFS. We participated in a very detailed audit of our activities, documented all of our procedures in detail, and followed a pre-established evaluation scheme that is recognized throughout the produce industry,” said André Dubois, Operations Manager for Logistec in Port Manatee.

“Port Manatee recognizes the importance of this global Food Safety initiative and we congratulate our partner Logistec on obtaining this highly respected certification,” said Carlos Buqueras, Executive Director, Port Manatee.

Logistec works with containerized and palletized fresh produce on behalf of major shippers at the port. The company’s inventory systems track cargo in real time, and help it manage warehousing for key customers such as Del Monte.

“This certification supports our own commitment to excellence as well as that of our customers and stakeholders. It helps our clients ensure that every element of their supply chain meets the highest industry standards, and that their cargo is being handled correctly at our facilities” said Jay Baird, General Sales Manager (USA) at Logistec.

PrimusGFS is a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and is a benchmarked, recognized audit scheme for the certification of goods in the produce sector, including growing operations to minimally-processed (fresh-cut) produce. Its wide scope includes pre- and post-farm gate production, and provides an integrated supply chain approach.  For more information, please visit http://www.primusgfs.com
